Message the bearing failure early on and internally the pump looked great. There were no signs of increased wear and she was making solid oil pressure up to the point where the bearing let go.

Thing you have to keep in mind is that there is a lot of lube going through the pump and the lube also keeps the gear faces from contacting and wearing each other and outer ring gear face from contacting the housing d wearing while it is running. What puts a real hurt on them is when debris goes through them and gets driven through the close tolerances of the parts. It always wrecks the machined surfaces of the housing where the gears are at close tolerance.
